Savelletri and Torre Canne with beaches and resorts among the best in Italy
2016 was THE year for eco-friendly tourism, for all travelers environment-friendly, who appreciate nature, protected areas and activities that go hand in hand with their protection.
At Villa Tonia, always attentive to proper environmental management, we are happy that ecotourism is a growing sector and promote ecologically conscious holidays.
According to a research by Legambiente, 79% of travelers today consider eco-
friendly measures to be important when choosing an accommodation facility. Of these, 61% are foreigners (mainly from Germany) and 39% are local tourists.
In awarding the 2016 Ecotourism Oscars, Legambiente also awarded the Coastal Dunes Park from Torre Canne to Torre San Leonardo, a few kilometers from Villa Tonia.
The Parco delle Dune Costiere is equipped for bird watching, snorkeling and has distinguished itself for sustainability and eco-compatible innovation. The jury of the Legambiente Oscar states: “Their initiative to create a sustainable tourist network and promoting it in the park area, has resulted in a widespread improvement in territorial quality”.
Furthermore, from April 1 st to 3 rd , in Rispescia, in the province of Grosseto, during a workshop organized by Legambiente, the Italian Touring Club, Federparchi and Vivilitalia, Francesco Palumbo, general manager of the Tourism Department of the Mibact (Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism) cited the Park of the Coastal Dunes as a unique practice of its kind. Palumbo also praised the private entrepreneurship of the Archeolido, a highly sustainable beach from an environmental point of view aimed at cultural enhancement. In fact, the beach is located close to the archaeological site of Egnazia, a historic treasure Villa Tonia recommends to all its guests to visit!
Fasano has been awarded with the 4 sails of Legambiente and is present in the 2015 Blue Guide, boasting initiatives in the field of sustainable management and
conservation of the territory: a recognition that we hope to earn also in 2016.
We are waiting for you for your eco-sustainable holidays in Fasano, Puglia!
